Tax Residency Certificate in Dubai

An official document issued by the Federal Tax Authority that attests to a person or corporate entity's residency in the United Arab Emirates is known as a tax residency certificate in Dubai or tax domicile certificate. In order to prevent tax evasion, it is utilized to benefit from double taxation avoidance agreements with foreign nations.

A natural person must have lived in the UAE for at least 183 days in order to apply for the certificate, and legal entities must have been in operation for at least one year before applying. The certificate can only be used for one particular country at a time and may be used several times. It is valid for one year from the date of issuing.

In order to take advantage of the Double Tax Avoidance Agreements (DTAA) that the UAE has signed with 76 other countries to prevent double taxation of income, both individuals and businesses can submit a request for this certificate to the FTA.

According to the law, money laundering is a separate offence from the predicate crime, and the sentence meted out to a predicate offender does not shield that individual from punishment for money laundering. The range of penalties outside of charges is between 50,000 and 5,000,000 AED.
